Mt. Eccles is a pre-kindergarten through sixth grade NCLB Blue Ribbon School, providing quality education for 200 students.  The school has ten classroom teachers as well as music/band, physical education, special education, and English Language Learners teachers. Our academic program includes technology, physical education with all classes participating in swimming weekly. Music is provided twice weekly with daily band for fifth and sixth graders.    Mt. Eccles offers elementary students the opportunity to participate and compete in the State Spelling Bee, Geography Bee, Battle of the Books, as well as various contests that are approved by the State of Alaska and Federal Government.

The school works in unison with the City of Cordova who provides the use of the city library, pool, and museum.  Mt. Eccles also partners with the Prince William Sound Science Center and US Forest Service who provides the students with monthly science hands-on classes and field trips.  These partners along with the Chamber of Commerce include our K-6 students in quality “Sea Week”, and the international “Shorebird Festival” activities.  The community health nurse provides maturation education classes for the fourth through sixth graders and our local law enforcement are involved in gun safety and the DARE program.
